this entry might be considered an FML.com story... So, I got to Honduras fine, not too much waiting, the plane ride was a little rough, but other than that everything went smoothly... I got to Honduras, and to the church, and slept the night and in the morning, when we were about to depart for the village, they asked for our passports. I took my passport out and checked inside to see if my green card was there...and...it wasn't... I searched everywhere, digging though my backpack and taking everything out, even searching though my mom's bag, I found no green card... I asked everyone if they saw it... but since they didn't they helped me look. The next day the pastor went to the airport to look, and he even got the police involved. Still nothing.. I went to the village for one day, but had to come back. I am now trying to file for a transportation letter from the US embassy in San Pedro Sula, but I can't even confirm if they actualy do issue a transportation card because there is onlt ONE worker and he/she never picks up the phone..So, My mom, the pastor and I are going to the Embassy blindly...and hoping and praying to God that he'll show us a miracle...Because even if they do issue one, it takes atleast a week, I think the fastest was 2 days? and I hab to go back to the US this saterday... If anyone know ANYTHING about this, please let me know ASAP... -------------------------- So Things turn out for the worst... Pastor Chang, My mom and I went to the US Embassy in San Pedro Sula at 11AM...now the office doesn't open untill 1PM...but since these are so many people wanting to go to the US, we had to come early for first come first serve. So we got there, but the earliest number they could give us was 15...because there were so many people that got pushed to today...so at last, it's 3PM and I got to talk to the ONE person what was working for the US Embassy...and as soon as I told him that I lost my green card, he told me "Sorry, I can't help you with that" ... .....WHAT THE FUCK.... I waited, no I had to make Pastor Chang and my mom WAIT 5 fucking hours just to get rejected!! You might be thinking "well why didn't she call the office to find out before she waited." I called and called and called and even sent them a fax....first the guy doesn't work everyday, and the days he works he only works 3 hours and when he's working, he can't answer the phone because he's too busy. after this, i sort of lost my cool and ripped my hair out... So the only place in Honduras that will issue me a transportation letter is the US Embassy in Tegucigalpa. one of the main cities people avoid because of the remonstration and riots...but Pastor Chang booked 3 tickets to fly there...but...it gets worse... The office for Green Card transportation letter ONLY opens monday...for 2 FUCKING HOURS!! (9-11AM) Since we came on a missions trip, we were advised not to bring credit cards...So we have no money... Even if we did go to Tegucigalpa on monday between 9-11AM, it doesn't gurentee that I'll get a spot to even talk to them that day..which means i'll have to wait another week, waste tons of money for flight tickets and also maybe come back emptyhanded... Oh, and the transportation letter takes 2-4weeks to issue... So, i've already given up on going to school this semester... I'm never coming back to Honduras...I HATE THIS COUNTRY and i'm NOT leaving the US (If i ever get back) untill I become a citizen. |
